Gold Coast Road Improvements
A meeting was held in Torio last Monday (07/26/2010) between district, local and regional government officials and representatives from the 15+ road construction companies bidding for the contract to improve the current road from Atalya to Flores. The government will award the contract on or about the 4th week of August 2010 and construction should begin shortly thereafter by the successful contractor.
The work will possibly be performed in the following stages:
- Stage 1 from Atalya to Mariato
- Stage 2 from Mariato to Flores
The general plan is to widen the current road surface by 1 foot on each side as may be necessary and completely resurface it with new thick asphalt. It is expected to take between 18 and 24 months from start to finish.
